ALPHABETISATION

Literacy refers to the ability to read, write and understand simple texts in one’s mother tongue. It is a fundamental skill that enables people to function effectively in modern society, facilitating access to information, education and employment. Literacy goes beyond the simple ability to decipher words; it also encompasses the understanding and interpretation of written information, which is crucial for civic participation, personal and professional development, as well as social progress. The Fleurir Association is passionately committed to literacy, offering a valuable opportunity to those who have not had access to sufficient education or who are experiencing difficulties.

We firmly believe that every individual deserves the chance to master reading, writing and comprehension – essential skills for a fulfilling and productive life. Through our dedicated programmes, we sow the seeds of knowledge and empowerment, enabling our learners to flourish and contribute positively to their communities.

AGRICULTURE

Well, during the holiday camps, which bring together a large number of young people aged between 6 and 17, they take part in several activities, including agriculture, which is a discipline that should not be neglected in our society. The planting activity teaches the youngsters how to grow food (vegetables, fruit, etc.) and we take the opportunity to remind them of the need for agriculture for our economic and social development. We also care about the health of the environment, because we don’t want to leave our children with a sick and polluted environment. That’s why we encourage reforestation and practices to preserve natural resources (soil, air, forests, water, etc.).

Getting back to agriculture, we are thinking about implementing a programme that will help young entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector to maximise their production with the help of advice and a number of seminars, some of which will be practical.

FIRST AID TRAINING 2023

First aid, also known as first aid, refers to the essential gestures and techniques needed to intervene effectively in a medical or accidental emergency. Its main aim is to provide immediate and appropriate assistance to victims before professional help arrives.

First aid skills include airway management, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), treatment of injuries such as bleeding, burns and fractures, and management of critical situations such as cardiac arrest or stroke. Knowing these techniques can make a crucial difference between life and death, reducing the risk of complications and improving victims’ chances of survival. Learning first aid is therefore not only a practical skill, but also an act of civic responsibility. It enables everyone to contribute to the safety and well-being of their community, whether at home, at work or even in public places.

By encouraging people to learn first aid, we are strengthening our collective ability to respond effectively to emergencies, and to support those who need help when every second counts. First aid is a vital skill that can save lives. By learning first aid, you can react effectively in an emergency, protect your loved ones and contribute to the safety of your community. Every minute counts in an accident or crisis, and knowing what to do can make all the difference. Sign up for first aid training today and become an everyday hero.

CAMP DE VACANCE 2024

Every year, Fleurir organises holiday camps for young people aged between 6 and 17, who are looked after by Fleurir teams. During these camps, the young people take part in a number of activities that are undoubtedly beneficial from a social and technical point of view. As far as the 2024 holiday camp is concerned, we have shared many moments and experiences with the young people through activities such as arts and crafts, martial arts, French and English language courses, ECME, IT, dance, cooking, pastries, crafts, sewing, mixed hairdressing and film screenings. All these activities bring value to young people, because they are in a Cameroon where young people are promised an entrepreneurial future. To give you a clearer idea of the activities, we are going to give you the progress of some of them.

Cooking: During the cooking workshops, we teach young people culinary classics such as pastries, desserts and starters, as well as locally famous meals, to encourage them to eat locally and to gain a general understanding of Cameroon’s different culinary cultures.

– IT: IT is crucial for young people. It opens up career opportunities, develops analytical thinking and helps them adapt to an increasingly digital world. That’s why we provide them with both general and specific knowledge of IT tools.

Crafts: Cameroon is a country of varied creativity, and what better way to express it than through crafts? Young people are encouraged to design decorative objects and accessories such as bracelets, babouches, etc.

Music: Cameroonian culture is largely represented by the beautiful melodies created by imaginative minds. We place particular emphasis on learning musical instruments in order to let the creativity of young people speak for themselves, who will undoubtedly represent Cameroon on the international stage. Just imagine if the legend Manu Dibango hadn’t been exposed to a musical environment from an early age, we wouldn’t have known this genius who has inspired legends such as Michael Jackson, Beyonce…

Hairdressing: Learning hairdressing is essential for a young person. Not only does it offer a practical, in-demand skill, it also allows them to express their creativity and connect with others. By mastering this art, a young person can build a solid and fulfilling career.

Language learning: Learning several languages is essential for young people. It opens up professional opportunities, facilitates travel and enriches cultural understanding.

Don’t hesitate to enrol your children in holiday camps because not only do we offer them an enriching and cohesive environment where they can flourish with their peers, but enrolling your children in a holiday camp with constructive and enriching activities is essential. It stimulates their development, encourages their creativity, and provides them with valuable social and educational experiences.
